The Nautical Research Guild is proud to support the next generation of nautical historians, archeologists, architects, and builders. Our Academic Scholarship Program is open for applications to individuals who are currently pursuing or plan to pursue these areas in a post-secondary or trade school setting. Scope and EligibilityThe Program offers scholarships for academic study at the undergraduate or trade school level in the areas of nautical history, nautical archeology, naval architecture, and wooden boat building. To be eligible for a scholarship under the Program, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
Directors, officers, agents, and employees of NRG, its affiliates, and anyone associated with the selection of scholarship recipients, and their families and persons living in their households are not eligible for scholarship benefits under the Program. If a person makes a donation to NRG for restricted use in the Program, then the donor, his or her family, and persons living in his or her household are not eligible for scholarship benefits under the Program during the calendar year in which the donation is made. Number and Amount of ScholarshipsThe number of scholarships to be awarded, and the amount of each scholarship, will be determined by the Board. Each scholarship will be made as a one-time award for a given academic term. The recipient may apply for additional scholarships for additional terms so long as the recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements. The applicant shall sign the application and, if the applicant is under eighteen years of age, the applicant’s parent or guardian shall also sign. Scholarship UsageScholarship funds may be applied to: tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at an educational organization; or to fees, books, supplies or equipment required for academic courses.
