Digital or Print Editions

When you join the Nautical Research Guild, your membership includes a subscription to the Nautical Research Journal, our quarterly magazine on ship building, nautical history and maritime arts.  You can choose to receive the Journal as a printed magazine, an online digital publication, or both.

Print Edition

The print edition is our traditional printed magazine.  You'll receive each issue by mail.  The magazine is beautifully published with a glossy cover, and includes a mix of full color and black-and-white pages.

Digital Edition

The digital edition is viewed through a web browser on your computer, tablet, or smart phone.  It has all the same content as the print edition, with the added bonus of being in full color.  You'll be able to access each new issue as soon as it is published, without having to wait for your copy to show up in the mail.  You can learn more about the digital edition here.

Additional Donor Levels

Show your support by adding an optional additional donation to your membership.  When you add an additional donation, you earn special recognition and benefits.

• Supporter.  For an extra $25 per year above the regular membership cost, you'll show additional support for the NRG.
• Donor.  For an extra $50 per year above the regular membership cost, you'll also get a CAMM Pass for free admission to the Council of American Maritime Museums (U.S. members only).
• Patron.  For a total cost of $250 per year, you get all the benefits of membership, a certificate of appreciation, a CAMM pass and an upgrade to USPS First Class mail for U.S. subscribers to the printed edition of the Journal.  You'll also receive the digital edition of the Nautical Research Journal at no extra charge.
• Benefactor.  For a total cost of $500 per year, you get all the benefits of membership, a certificate of appreciation, a CAMM pass and an upgrade to USPS First Class mail for U.S. subscribers to the printed edition of the Journal. You'll also receive the digital edition of the Nautical Research Journal at no extra charge.
• Plankowner.  You'll get the most recognition available for your incredible support, and join the elite ranks of the NRG's Plankowner members.  For a total cost of $1000 per year, you get all the benefits of membership, a certificate of appreciation, a CAMM pass and an upgrade to USPS First Class mail for U.S. subscribers to the printed edition of the Journal. You'll also receive the digital edition of the Nautical Research Journal at no extra charge.

U.S., Canadian and International Memberships

Membership in the NRG is open to residents of the United States and other countries.  We offer different membership options for each to ensure we offer fair pricing that covers the cost of mailing the Nautical Research Journal to you.  For Canadian and international members, the Digital Only membership is often a great choice.  It is the same price for U.S., Canadian and international residents, and sends you the Nautical Research Journal in an online format instead of a printed copy.

Flexible Membership Terms

You can choose to renew manually each year, or automatically renew each year using your credit card on file.  

Easily manage your membership online.  You can update your contact information at any time, and easily change your membership level before each renewal.  You'll get an email shortly before your renewal date so you can make any changes.
